BEDS Plus serves people experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness throughout west, southwest, and south suburban Cook County, helping individuals and families stabilize their lives through prevention, shelter, housing, and supportive services. BEDS operates a low-barrier, trauma-informed continuum of care that includes emergency services such as rental assistance and medical respite, interim and transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing. Services include assessment, case management, referrals, housing navigation, employment support, and connections to community-based healthcare and behavioral health providers. If you or someone you know needs assistance, the no-appointment-needed Summit Walk-In Center located at 7666 W. 63rd St. in Summit is open Monday through Saturday from 12–4pm (doors open at 9am - first come, first served) or call the 24-hour hotline at 708-354-0858. For more information, visit beds-plus.org.
Each client who comes to BEDS is either literally homeless or their housing is threatened. Each situation has its own complex causes and requires individualized care. Professional case managers work with clients on individual service plans to help them secure affordable housing, stabilize, and rejoin their communities. We connect our clients with other agencies to address the needs of special populations, including families with children; seniors; veterans; domestic violence survivors; and people with disabilities. With help from professional and lay volunteers, we provide meals and food, routine health screenings, physician and behavioral health referrals, legal counsel, employment support groups and other wraparound supports.
