Proviso Township's new discount prescription card can be used for flu shots. The cards are absolutely free, and all residents are eligible, regardless of age, income, or whether they're already insured.
The card can mean savings of up to 75% on prescriptions. You don't even have to be a resident of Proviso Township to use one.
“Cold and flu season is another good reason to take advantage of this program,” said Jesse Rosas, the executive director of the Proviso Township Mental Health Commission.
The card is offered through Coast2Coast Rx. In 2011, the card saved an average of 48 percent off the retail price of drugs. The average savings for a prescription is $29.42.
The process to use the card is very simple and does not require a person to give any private details about medical or financial history. There is no paperwork to fill out and no registration process. You're not required to provide personal details (other than a phone number) and you don't have to make any kind of commitment. You simply present the card when paying for prescriptions or flu shots. If you have insurance, you show both cards and opt for the better coverage.
Officials have also been working with Coast2Coast to distribute the cards throughout the Township. Cards are available at the Township Office and online at www.coast2coastrx.com/provtwp/.
